The One Hundred and Fifty-Fifth Day of The Walk
Island

Madison, WI

Started walk 6:20 a.m.

Sunny and mild. The grass and shrubs were ladened heavy with dew soaking my jeans as I brushed them along the trail. Rabbits were eating clover near the duck pond as crows looked on.

butterfly weed A toad jumped across our path as we stepped on a broken board along the boardwalk. Chance ventured a lick but I'm not sure if he was fast enough. However, his face did appear to have a slight grimace and he seemed to smack his mouth in disgust.

I could hear a bullfrog croaking by the island. A big bug buzzes by my ear -- twice.

I came across a purple flower that clung to a vine. The leaves were small, stalkless and opposite. It was creeping up other wild flower stalks and had tendrils at the stalk tips. On the plants underside, hanging down, were blue/purple fern-like flower clumps resembling a dragon. I believe that this flower is known as Hairy Vetch.

Coffee--Costa Rican--Very Good. Muffin -- Oatmeal/Blackberry.
