A Year In The Walk Preface

The 'Walk' is not new to me. It's been a little over 2 years since Chance and I have been going down these paths. I decided to create a pictorial diary as a way to mark the passage of the seasons. Inspired by the the Harvey Kitel character Auggi in the movie Smoke, I thought that a record of the walk would be interesting in its small nuances.

For this diary I had to pick a starting point and decided on the Winter Solstice. Unlike the movie, I will not take the walk every day and nor will I take the photo exactly at the same time. However, I will have a constant focal point to mark the gradual changes.


My faithful companion and reason for these almost daily treks.	This Island will be my constant reference to the changing seasons.	The Duck Pond. Home to Mallards and a lone, ugly duck who has been accepted (or at least tolerated) by the rest of the flock.
