Madison, WI
Started walk 4:45 p.m.
It was a late afternoon walk and it was sunny and windy.
The midwest rowing regatta was finishing and the crew teams were celebrating their week of fun.
I watched a heat between four crew teams that included my alma mater -- Michigan State University.
The wind on the big lake where the races took place was coming strong out of the east -- the exact
direction the crew teams had to row. It was a rippling wind to test their true mettle. As I later learned,
it was the Badger men who tested best -- in all of the five heats that they entered.
I find the afternoon walks too crowded with my fellow humans. Now that the sun doesn't set until almost 8:00 p.m., people are still walking the trails in the late afternoon.
The flowers continue to put on a spectacular display. Likewise, the flowering trees including the crabapples and redbuds are preparing to burst into full glory.
Coffee -- Costa Rican - Fair (maybe I don't enjoy my afternoon coffee as much as my morning brew. Without a doubt, I judge it harsher. Macanudo Cigar.
