The One Hundred and Eleventh Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk 6:45 a.m.

It was sunny but still brisk this morning. Having learned my lesson from yesterday, I wore a warmer jacket today. Also, with a slight headache, I sported sunglasses to dull the glare of the morning sun.

There was dew on the grass in the low lands and Chance feverishly lapped at the moisture. He is a dew lapper.

The crews were unloading their shells off of their large transport racks. I've yet to see any of them actually in the water this year.

yellow flower I photographed a little rosette-style flower. It's buds are approximately nickle-size in diameter (a quarter-size at the most) and it hugs low to the ground. It grows in very damp soil.

On the return trip I saw two geese landing in the swamp water area by Turtle Log. I saw them approaching high and heard their continuous "honking" which were probably flight pattern commands. Left. Right. Tip left wing and start to descend. They did not stop their honking until they landed.

The old asphalt shingles were picked up.

Coffee -- Costa Rican - Good.
