Started walk 1:15 p.m.
It was a beautiful afternoon and Chance and I walked to my office to pick up my
convertible that had been in storage. We followed "The Walk" trail and then continued
going. Therefore, in my book, the trip still qualifies to be included as one of the official "Days"
in our Year in the Walk.
The turtles were sunning themselves on what I now refer to as the turtle log. There were at least
five today that I could easily see from the trail. I didn't even try to get close for fear of
disturbing their peaceful rest.
In the woods west of the prairie there were about 16 crows coming together for a convention.
They were flying in by twos and threes and landing in about three trees. One of the crows was
gigantic. As big as a hawk. I looked to see if I could spot any dead animals that would give
cause for this congregation but failed to identify any feast that would be the main course.
There were three geese in the prairie retaining pond. Two seemed to be paired off and the third
appeared to be a loner. They were lazily swimming (and honking) and did not get into a flutter
by our approach.
Trees were starting to flower as were many unidentifiable ground flowers.
In shaded areas I could see the multiple shoots of Lilies of the Valley that
are currently about 5 inches high (no flowers yet).
Our walk took through some residential areas and I photographed a spectacular
pink magnolia in the front yard of one of the houses we passed
on the way to my office. There were many other Magnolia trees that were
equally as beautiful that had not yet lost their petals because of wind.
These spring trees are always a treat for the eyes.
The walk to my office took about an hour. I gave Chance some much needed water,
I got the car out of storage, did a little computer repair at the office, checked my e-mail and
then we drove back with the top down.
No coffee. Don Kiko Cigar.
