The Fifty-Fifth Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk at 6:20 a.m.

The sky was overcast and the temperature was little colder than yesterday.

The geese were once again occupying the little island. They were wary of our approach but didn't slink into the water like yesterday. On our return walk two watch-geese near the ice edge, about 50 yards from the rest of the flock, honked back warnings to their brethren, "Honk! Dog with stick, Honk! Dog with stick." Their warnings caused many of the geese to abandon their exposed location on the island for the safety and comfort of the water. However, a few defiant geese stood a little taller, stretched their necks, and told us who was boss.

While we were on the boardwalk, a white-tail rabbit scampered into the brush. Chance did not see it as he was preoccupied with getting his stick properly situated in his mouth.

Coffee -- Costa Rican -- Good. No muffin today.
