The Fifty-Fourth Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk at 6:15 a.m.

I took a four day break from "The Walk" to take a trip to Michigan. Whereas we enjoyed three days of sunshine, upon our return I was greeted by an overcast morning on Monday. And, because we were unable to pick-up Chance from the kennel until Monday morning, "The Walk didn't continue until today. And, once again, with mild temperatures, the sky was overcast. Also, there were heavy rains the day before and the snow was almost gone by this morning.

About 50 Canadian Geese occupied the island as I walked by to go to the coffee shop. They were standing on the island honking and doing whatever else geese do to establish supremacy. I was hoping they would still be standing on the island on my retrun when there would be more light for a picture. But alas, when I came by the second time they were in the water and not as imposing or visible.

"Vee-eep! vee-eep! chir -- chir -- chir -- chir, vee-eep! vee-eep! chir -- chir -- chir -- chir," "Caw! Caw! Caw!," "Honk!, Honk!" "You talkin' to me?" The sounds of a warm morning in February. Quite unusual.

Coffee -- Costa Rican -- Good. Muffin -- Oatmeal/Blackberry from the bread shop next door -- Hot -- moist -- good.
