Groundhog Day
February 2, 1998
44th Day of Winter
Sunrise at 7:12 a.m.
Sunset at 5:11 p.m.
The Forty-Third Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk at 6:15 a.m.

There was an orange, pink reflection on the underbelly of the cloud cover. I briefly saw a morning star but a cloud quickly obstructed the sky from my view. Whereas the morning was overcast and colder, the sun was definitely trying to find an opening in the sky.

Today is Groundhog Day. Will Jimmy the Groundhog in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin or Punxsutawney Phil of the movie, "Groundhog's Day" fame see their shadows? I'm pretty confident that Jimmy won't see his. I didn't return from my walk until 7:30 a.m. and the sun was still playing cat and mouse with the clouds. And, if the truth be known, I believe in only believing in superstitions and folklore that go in my favor. So, I'll put my trust in Jimmy and to hell with Punxsutawney Phil.

Coffee -- Costa Rican -- Excellent. Muffin today -- Cranberry -- Dry.
