The Thirty-Sixth Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk at 6:25 a.m.

There is no joy in Madville, mighty Farve-y has struck out. What's more, another quarter inch of new snow fell during the night to add to the stunned silence that seems to have permeated our fair state.

It was mild and overcast (Help, our weather is broken!). Actually, there is a distinct pattern going on -- four and a half overcast days -- one half day of sunshine -- an overcast day -- and then a day of sunshine (Help, our weather is broken!) These feelings I'm expressing are natural for Wisconsinites in January. Do not despair, I can feel Aldo Leopold's "January Thaw" coming soon. It better, there are only a few days left and we'll be into February, and, to my knowledge, Aldo did not talk about a "February Thaw."

During the walk I could hear two robins singing to each other. Again, it seems rather early to be hearing these bird. El Nino!

Coffee -- Costa Rican -- Excellent. Muffin today -- Cranberry --Excellent.
