The Thirtieth Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk at 6:35 a.m.

It's hard to believe that this is already the thirtieth day of our walk and the thirty-first day of Winter. The weather is very much like the morning of the first day of the walk. The sky was overcast and the temperature was mild.

Walking along the paths was much easier than in previous days because other travelers have helped pack the snow. Walking in new snow is not very easy. It's like you're always walking uphill and into the wind. Although it's beautiful, it is also fatiguing and stressful on the back.

It was a pleasant walk and it was quiet once I let my companion run ahead of me. He is a very noisy walker. His snorts and sniffs are loud enough to warn potential prey of his coming from a mile away. I half believe that he is part Hoover -- 12 amps.

Coffee -- Costa Rican -- excellent. Muffin -- Cranberry -- dry.
