The Twenty-First Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk at 8:10 a.m.

The weather was cold this morning. The temperature was still in the single digits and there was a bracing wind chill. My earlobes that were exposed just beneath my hat needed warming as we walked to the coffee shop, However, on the return trip, the wind was at our backs (just like the Irish blessing) and both my face and earlobes were the better for it. Compared to other early morning walks, the sun was high in the sky and sunglasses were required hiking gear.

Today the Green Bay Packers play the San Francisco 49's for the NFC championship in San Francisco. If it was at Lambeau Field it would be a cold bone breaker. Go Pack!

Chance Chance came across two other dogs (and their owners). One was a familiar friend and the other a passing smell. Chance had a great time off-leash. He found a tree limb about 5 inches in diameter and four feet long. He carried it for a good distance.

The water around the island is now completely frozen. However, I would not trust it to be very solid. There was no place for ducks to swim and no ducks to be seen except at the duck pond.

Coffee -- Costa Rican -- good -- didn't spill any. Muffin -- cranberry -- ok.
