The One Hundred and Sixty-Nineth Day of The Walk
Island

Madison, WI

Started walk 6:15 a.m.

Sunny and hot. Temperature in the high 80's low 90's. High humidity.

I took a 17 day break from the walk and went to the upper/lower peninsula of Michigan for a vacation with my family. Our vacation abode was a little north of the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan's Good Harbor Bay overlooking the Manitous. Chance went to Camp K9.

This is my first day back with Chance. He was very excited when I picked him up Sunday afternoon. He rode home in the back of my '64 Valiant convertible with his head hanging over the side sucking wind with his lapping grin.

The vegetation that overhangs the paths thoroughly soaked my jeans. Nonetheless, the flowers in the prairie were in full glory. Purple Bergamot, Bull Thistles, Cattails, Evening Primrose, Showy Tick-Trefoil along with every kind of sunflower you can imagine.

Coffee--Costa Rican-- Very Good.
