The One Hundred and Nineth Day of The Walk
IslandMadison, WI

Started walk 6:25 a.m.

It was a cold, drizzling overcast morning. The fact that it was drizzling makes the word overcast rather redundant. But alas, it was a redundant kind of day.

I saw a cardinal, a robin, the yellow finches, three geese, a few mallards, two rabbits, two squirrels, one biker and one walker. There were still a few of those small black ducks hanging around and, yes, it was overcast.

New the scene were the crews that are starting to practice on the big lake. It's the annual midwest crew regatta and male and female crews from all over the Big Ten will be competing to the sounds of Canadian Honkers protesting the invasion of their tranquil waters.

What's also new is the accumulating litter I'm seeing now that the weather is warmer. Plastic bread bags, plastic margarine tubs, a wheelbarrow load of asphalt shingles, styrofoam peanuts and an assortment of other consumer goods packaging that lazy bastards throw on the ground instead of in one of the trash cans that are within easy walking distance. Lady Bird where are you?

Coffee -- Costa Rican - Excellent. Macanudo Cigar.
